Pipefitter Supervisor
Summary The Pipefitter Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of two, distinct trades, Electronic Industrial Controls and Pipefitters. Serves as a supervisor for one WL-10 Pipefitter Work Leader, WG-10 Pipefitters, WG-9 Plumber, and WG-11 Industrial Controls Mechanics. Responsibilities Major duties and responsibilities include: Actively promotes good relationships between management and labor. Prepares position descriptions, sets adequate work performance standards for employees and makes formal appraisals of employees work performance. Plans and schedules work assignments for the unit on a daily and long-range basis (monthly quarterly, annual) in coordination with the Maintenance & Repair Section Supervisor. Provides coordination for all in-house type projects assigned to the Pipefitter/Industrial Equipment Unit. Responsible for sequencing of crafts for most efficient accomplishment of in-house projects. Assures that unit employees have the proper parts and tools to carry out the maintenance tasks assigned to the unit so that assignments are completed without delay. Coordinates with contracting personnel who have contracts with the medical center for new construction, modifications and repairs by replacement. Conducts periodic manpower surveys of unit to assure oneself and the management that work is being performed in the most efficient manner possible. Performs other related duties as assigned. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Effort: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places. This requires him to stand, stop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. He frequently handles lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, he may life and carry items that weigh over 50 pounds. Working conditions: The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty and greasy. He is sometimes required to make installations and repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. He is occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
