Pipefitter / Mechanic – JLLWhat this job involves:
As a Pipefitter/Mechanic reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager and/or Associate Manager, you'll be responsible for installing and maintaining all piping and plumbing systems throughout our industrial facility. This critical role ensures the reliable operation of steam, gas, hydraulic, vacuum, water, and air pressure systems that support our manufacturing operations. You'll perform preventive maintenance and repairs while maintaining compliance with cGMP and GLP standards. This position offers variety as you may work across different craft groupings based on business needs, and includes responsibility for maintaining business systems like Maximo/Datastream/eWorks CMMS, where you'll have authority to enter work orders, coordinate assignments, and maintain work for others.
What your day-to-day will look like:
• Install, lay out, bend, cut, thread and join pipes and fittings for various pressure systems using blueprints, drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions
• Handle and install pipes of diverse materials including stainless steel, glass, iron, steel, aluminum, synthetic materials, and copper, along with necessary fittings, valves, and specialties
• Inspect, maintain, repair, and replace pipes, pipelines, filters, steam traps, strainers, safety valves, relief valves, rupture discs, and pressure regulators
• Test equipment and piping systems for pressure and vacuum leaks, ensuring system integrity and safety compliance
• Perform preventive maintenance on building systems including vacuum pumps, air compressors, condensate pumps, and sump pumps
• Maintain and monitor water filtering, softening, and deionizing systems while ensuring clinical manufacturing equipment operates to full cGMP standards
• Collaborate with Facilities Management on problem resolution, troubleshooting, scheduling, and prioritization of work orders using maintenance management systems
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Demonstrated experience installing and repairing industrial piping systems including steam, gas, air, potable water, fire protection, and process materials
• Proven ability to maintain and repair rotating equipment such as centrifugal and vacuum pumps
• Working knowledge of cGMP and GLP procedures and practices for regulated manufacturing environments
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals for equipment installation and repair
• Experience using maintenance management systems for work order coordination and completion
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency with hand and power-operated tools for pipe cutting, grooving, threading, and turning, including power-driven pipe cutting and threading machines
• Experience with oxy-acetylene equipment (excluding welding/cutting), LPG torches, and pipe clean-out machines
• Familiarity with test equipment for steam, potable water, and fire protection systems
• Ability to operate drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and other machine shop equipment
• Experience making recommendations for critical spare parts and ordering specialty tools, parts, and fixtures
• Background in clinical or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility maintenance

Estimated compensation for this position:
85,000.00 – 90,000.00 USD per yearThis range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
