Pilot Plant Technician

The opportunity:

The Associate Purification Pilot Plant Technical Specialist is an integral team member of the Pilot Plant, which supports products from early and late stage research until post market optimization to ensure that new processes are robustly designed and successfully transitioned from development to manufacturing.  They will perform research and development operations and execute process development experiments in close collaboration with PTD Researchers, PDE Automation and Engineering Solutions and act as a member of a high functioning team.  Studies executed will support all phases of drug development, process validation/characterization, process and equipment improvements, general troubleshooting and technology development.  Tasks performed in the Pilot Plant include those associated with various CHO Drug Substance and Drug Product unit operations.  The candidate will be interfacing with customer groups by seeking opportunities for collaboration, proactively communicating and presenting information and offering relevant data driven information to impact decisions. 

Responsibilities:

Ability to work independently under close supervision in immediate work area and with general supervision in one other operations area

May collaborate and interact with customer groups. Participate as a team member on functional, organizational and cross functional teams

Assist in maintaining an organized, safe, and clean work environment. Coordinate and perform operations and tasks associated with CHO and bacterial Operations

Routinely perform operations such as cleaning, sterilization, batching (media/buffer), and recording/collecting experiment data.

Equipment maintenance and purchase. Complies with all Plant safety guidelines. Participate in troubleshooting efforts on equipment.

Who You Are:

BA/BS in a life science or equivalent with 1-3 years of related experience.

Understands basic manufacturing, engineering and/or scientific theories, principles and techniques used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

Prior hands on experience in biotechnology or related field

Ability to work in fast paced dynamic work environment

Ability to keep clear and accurate written and electronic records of work

Strong team player who can work with team of diverse skills and objectives

Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong problem solving skills

Self-motivated, organized and capable of multi-tasking

Mechanical aptitude and ability to lift 30 pounds

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of South San Francisco, CA is $63,600- $98,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
