Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Pilot Plant Technician to lead and manage pilot plant trials with efficiency and safety. This role requires adherence to facility policies, including safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices, and involves setting up pilot plant equipment, troubleshooting, and assisting in post-trial cleaning and sanitation.

Responsibilities

Lead the planning, organizing, and execution of pilot plant trials safely and efficiently.Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices.Set up pilot plant equipment, troubleshoot, and assist the team in cleaning and sanitation post-trial.Communicate with lead technicians, team leaders, and project managers regarding trial inputs such as ingredient availability, resource, and equipment readiness.Label and store work-in-progress and finished test products under the direction of a project manager, product developer, lead technician, or team leader.Operate key trial-related equipment following recipe directions under the guidance of the lead technician.Test scale-up recipes and complete all trial data and compliance documentation.Demonstrate safety leadership, coach, and encourage safe behavior among the team.Participate fully in mandatory compliance training related to principles and local laws and regulations.Understand and apply all food safety, quality regulations, SOPs, and hygienic zoning requirements.Monitor CCPs and OPRPs in accordance with NQMS or HACCP plans.Support NQMS, NCE, NIMS, SHE, and risk assessment initiatives and audits.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

A.S degree preferred in science or a technical area, or equivalent experience.Ability to effectively plan and prioritize work.Experience in food manufacturing and culinary environments is a plus.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and systems such as SAP, GREAT, NesTMS, and NesRequest.Ability to detect and understand warning lights, buzzers, alarms, or instruments indicating unsafe conditions.Flexibility and willingness to work under short timelines and accommodate changing work schedules, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Working knowledge of industrial-scale food manufacturing equipment.Understanding of mathematics and data analysis.

Work Environment

The role involves working on bench tops and in a pilot plant setting. Flexibility in work schedules is required, including the possibility of overtime, weekends, and holidays based on project needs. The work environment demands adherence to safety standards and protocols while using various industrial-scale food manufacturing equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
