The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for Pianist in the ARC – Adult Rehabilitation Center.

Job Summary

Plays the piano during the Sunday morning worship service, evening evangelistic service as well as during evening meetings. Plays the piano in accordance with acceptable practices to ensure the long life of musical instruments. May serve as song leader or may select music and may instruct choir members. Maintains a positive working atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner that will establish and promote a professional working relationship with vendors, donors, customers, beneficiaries, co-workers, and management. 

The Pianist will perform Praise Team Leader functions during practice Monday or Thursday from 6:30PM-7:30PM and during worship time during Sunday Morning Service from 8:45AM-10:15AM as well as provide piano accompaniment for the remainder of the service. The pianist responsible for leading the Praise Team made of Men in the Program or Graduates of the Program.

A total commitment of 2.5 hours per week.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the proper methods for playing the piano. Ability to follow and adapt to various individual’s lead. 

Education and Experience

One-year experience playing a piano for large groups, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

None

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

 Ability to meet attendance requirements.  Ability to read and communicate the English language. Ability to read music and play the piano. Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
