As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist with VCH you will:

Specialize in acute and chronic pain management following integrated behavioural change methods of care from a physiotherapy perspective.Provide formal clinical and technical consultation and advisory services for health care providers in hospitals and the community on a national and international level.Review literature, analyse trends and recommend changes to modify/change current clinical practices.Provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment.Act as a clinical resource to students and staff.Initiate and participate in research and quality improvement activities. Qualifications

Education & Experience

Current full registration as a Physiotherapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).Eligible for membership in the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC).Five (5) years' recent, related experience providing interventions and educating others related to complex pain management including integrated behavioral approaches to target that management, including one year's related mentoring, preceptoring, coaching and group facilitation experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Credentialling through the Canadian Academy of Pain Management or greater standard (successful completion of Pain Certificate from University of Alberta or McGill University) required.

Knowledge & Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to acute and persistent pain conditions.Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.Broad knowledge of physiotherapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.Broad Knowledge of integrated behavioural approaches for preventing, ameliorating or resolving acute and persisting pain conditions.Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Broad knowledge of established provincial standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.Demonstrated ability to make public/professional presentations.Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader, motivator and facilitator.Demonstrated ability to teach both one-on-one and in groups.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.General of knowledge Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Documented involvement as a research investigator and/or published researcher.Demonstrated skill in the use of equipment, and in techniques appropriate to the treatment of clients with chronic lung disease and respiratory conditions.Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.Valid Driver's License and access to personal car may be required. The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
