The Physician Relations Manager supports the Regional Director of Business Development in executing strategic plans aligned with Cleveland Clinic’s goals. This role focuses on building relationships with community physicians and leaders to enhance satisfaction and increase referrals, driving growth in priority service lines. Responsibilities include analyzing referral data, identifying growth opportunities, presenting strategies to support quantitative and qualitative business development goals, supporting physician alignment efforts and collaborating with the Physician Relations Specialist. Frequent travel within a five-county area is required. This role supports Cleveland Clinic’s mission by strengthening relationships with independent physicians to improve access, increase volume, and enhance regional care. It aligns with our vision of being the partner of choice in every community. This position offers ongoing professional development through best practice sharing meetings, access to national industry publications and webinars and opportunities to learn from leaders across Cleveland Clinic.

This is a remote position, with caregivers working days from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Candidates must reside in the Northeast Ohio (NEO) area, as the role requires frequent travel throughout the region to visit various physician practices and spend most time in the field.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Implement and monitor specific department goals, standards and objectives in support of the Regional Business Development Initiatives.

Ensure growth targets, directly tied to the community physician outreach and strategic initiatives of Cleveland Clinic Florida.

Travel via car across Cleveland market daily and visit independent providers and practice groups in the area.

Serve as the business development and physician relations subject matter expert for the department and service lines.

Coordinate and analyze market research data, internal physician data and all other data as it relates to each assigned project.

Manage priorities as outlined in the business development plan, as well as projects with competing deadlines.

Ensure the ongoing growth and enhancement of programs designed to engage and align community physicians with the Cleveland Clinic Florida.

Provide support for community-based practices by acting as a liaison with all levels of organization and community.

Identify areas of increased and/or decreased referral volume and help analyze the problem and offer solutions.

Manage the Physician Relation Team day-to-day operations.

Help the management team in the execution of Continuing Medical Education (CME) events in accordance with the business plan for the assigned CC service line Programmatic Expertise.

Develop physician relation team skills to apply data and market intelligence to craft audience specific messages to enhance referral opportunities.

Complete ride-a longs with each liaison to observe, coach and create development action plans for improved performance.

Monitor, report and manage the physician liaison’s individual activity, goal achievement, visit effectiveness and overall performance.

Prepare reports and presentations in support of liaison performance (activity), volume results, referral results, physician, service line and new growth opportunities.

Report interactions and outcomes on a regular basis to the Regional Director Business Development.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field

In-depth knowledge of marketing research techniques; problem solving, sampling procedures, data collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation.

Understanding of business management; statistics, program evaluation, implementation and analysis

Five years of relationship management experience, including healthcare related sales and marketing experience

Two years of people management and development experience

Experience in physician relations or pharmaceutical sales

Experience managing/creating a program

Ability to navigate the organization – service oriented, service recovery

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Master's Degree

Experience in physician outreach or healthcare growth

CRM skills

Prior leadership experience with ability to coach, organize, and operate independently

Physical Requirements:

Requires frequent sitting, normal or corrected vision and manual dexterity sufficient to perform work on a personal computer.

Requires the ability to walk to various locations.

Able to function in a stressful environment
