A Brief Overview
The Physician Office Nurse (RN) is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice; accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered in an outpatient setting. The Physician Office Nurse (RN) is responsible for working as part of the clinical team, following physician's orders for care of patients and related medical and clerical support functions. These support functions will vary but will include accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams, performing and documenting vital signs, assisting with procedures, preparing and administering medications with physician's authorization, using CPR/BLS skills when required, drawing blood, and providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets. Other duties may include retrieval of lab and x-ray reports, calling in prescriptions, telephone triage, obtaining referrals and authorizations, completing medical forms and other duties as assigned.
What you will doResponsible for ordering medical and office supplies, stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms and cleaning instruments Assess and document patient status, vital signs, and current medications during treatment visits. Assist physician with all exams and procedures and treatments. Report all patient information and any changes in patient’s health status to the physician. Dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations and complete with other treatment and front office duties as assigned.
Education QualificationsAssociate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
Experience Qualifications Clinical RN experience Preferred Experience in specialized field Preferred
Licenses and CertificationsRegistered Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Nursing (SCLLR) Required Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Preferred
