**Responsibilities**
Ascension St. Vincent is seeking a BC/BE Pediatrician to share their services as a Newborn Hospitalist for our St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis as well as three other locations all located in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis. This candidate would provide care at all hospitals, supporting both Level 1 and Level 2 nurseries. We are open to full time, part time or weekend option candidates.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinates discharge planning with case management.
+ Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
+ Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
+ Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
+ Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
+ Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.
**Position Highlights:**
+ Shift work to include a combination of day, night and weekend shifts to average 40 hrs/wk for full time
+ Day shift weeks are either 5 to 7 days in a row
+ Day shifts are typically 8am-4pm: Night shifts are 4pm-8am
+ Procedures vary from week to week but circumcisions are performed regularly. LPs, line placement and intubations in Level 2 nurseries, and chest tubes are less frequent, but occasional.
+ Frequent use of CPAP in Level 2 nurseries.
+ Easy collaboration with neonatologists at our Level 4 NICU
+ Potential for low acuity peds beds in the future

St. Vincent Women's has an 85-bed Level IV Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) that features 14 separate suites for multiple births. Services offered at St. Vincent Women's Hospital are a Maternal Fetal Medicine and Genetics Center with prenatal diagnostic testing, genetic counseling and high risk pregnancy management. The High Risk unit offers 26 private rooms in a home-like environment for those patients who expect an extended hospital stay. The Family Care Unit offers 48 private patient rooms, a nursery, lactation consultants and a newborn portrait studio. St Vincent Women's hospital also offers maternal/fetal transport services covering all St Vincent Health ministries and any other Indiana hospital requesting service.

**Requirements**
**Licensure/Certification/Registration:**
+ Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
+ Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.
**Education:**
+ Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
