Position Highlights:
The Physician Liaison serves as a vital link between Moffitt Cancer Center and referring physicians. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with physicians, practices, and healthcare partners to increase new patient referrals, and support Moffitt’s strategic growth goals. The Physician Liaison actively promotes all of Moffitt’s service lines within their assigned territory and works to increase new patient referrals to both the hospital and outpatient centers.

Will reside within the territory they support to foster meaningful connections and ensure timely responsiveness to local needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Able to build rapport and communicate clearly with physicians, staff, and internal teams. Liaisons are personable and self-motivated. Organizational and time-management skills. Problem-solving ability. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Professionalism and discretion - Maintains a positive, credible presence and handles sensitive information appropriately. Knowledge of referral processes, medical terminology, and provider workflows. Demonstrated success in building relationships and influencing decision-makers. Proven ability to manage accounts, respond to needs, and build long-term professional relationships. Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially helpful for presentations, follow-up, and managing expectations.
Responsibilities:
Field Based Outreach
Responsible for driving new patient volume through Physician outreach. Conduct regular outreach through in-person visits, calls, and virtual meetings to promote services and gather feedback. Responsible for assigned territory: Visiting practices in the community to build relationships and achieve reach and frequency goals. Attend internal meetings for purposes of clinical education and marketing updates. Analyze referral data provided by Planning team and track trends to identify growth opportunities and areas for improvement. Liaisons are responsible for interpreting and incorporating field intelligence. Host & Attend Events - coordinate educational events, tours, or Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs in territory for referring providers to highlight new services or specialists. Capture field and outreach activities and referral info in CRM (Salesforce).
Collaborate Internally
Collaborate with internal departments (for example: Intake, Financial Clearance, Business Office, Scheduling, clinical teams, and administration) to streamline referral processes and ensure physician satisfaction. Physician Liaisons provide essential insights to guide operational decisions and ensure alignment with community needs.
Build and Maintain Relationships
Be a resource for both internal and external providers, answering questions, resolving concerns, and ensuring a smooth referral experience. Support new provider onboarding by introducing them to referring physicians and facilitating practice integration. Liaisons should confidently deliver both positive and constructive feedback, always with a solutions-focused approach.
Credentials and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing; Business, Communications; Healthcare or related field. Three years of experience required in a healthcare organization to include the following: Medical device or pharmaceutical sales, healthcare marketing, or community outreach. Provider Relations or Business Development working directly with physicians, practice managers, or healthcare executives. Account Management. Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
