Job Summary
The Director, Physician Engagement is responsible for building trusted, strategic relationships with the organization’s physicians and clinical teams to uncover innovations, emerging therapies, care delivery trends, and institutional initiatives. Acting as a senior clinical liaison, this role translates key insights from internal providers into actionable intelligence to inform external outreach, enhance service offerings, and strengthen the organization’s strategic position in competitive markets.This individual will partner closely with clinical leaders and senior executives to ensure the external outreach team is equipped with relevant, current, and compelling clinical information that showcases the organization’s unique strengths. The role requires a balance of healthcare knowledge, relationship-building skills, and strategic communication.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal physicians, clinical leaders, and department chairs.
· Identify and monitor institutional clinical innovations, new programs, therapies, and service line developments.
· Serve as the primary liaison between clinical departments and the external outreach/sales team.
· Partner closely with key stakeholders to develop and execute communication strategies that translate clinical insights into impactful external outreach.
· Represent the organization in cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment of clinical priorities and outreach strategy.
· Translate complex clinical initiatives, innovations, and service line developments into clear, compelling messaging tailored for external referral sources, business development activities, and strategic partners, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and market needs.
· Support strategic initiatives to enhance provider engagement, grow service lines, and expand referral networks.
· Build credibility and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders through consistent, informed, and strategic engagement.
· Establish structured feedback loops (e.g., focus groups, regular check-ins, surveys) with physicians and internal stakeholders to continuously refine engagement strategies and outreach content.
· Lead the coordination of internal education efforts to ensure cross-functional teams are informed of clinical innovations, new programs, therapies, and service line developments, driving alignment across messaging, service delivery, and business development initiatives.
· Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment and foster strong, collaborative relationships across clinical, operational, and strategic departments.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree required. Strong understanding of science and technology
Master’s degree in healthcare / clinical discipline (e.g., MPH, MHA, RN, etc.) is preferred
Experience
Minimum 5–7 years of experience required in healthcare communications, strategic outreach, or a related healthcare business development role. Demonstrated success in engaging senior clinical leaders and translating clinical concepts into strategic business messaging.
Preferred: Clinical or healthcare background - Experience in a large hospital system, academic medical center, or complex care environment. Familiarity with customer service or hospitality standards in healthcare.

Strong understanding of healthcare systems, referral patterns, and clinical service lines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to navigate clinical and administrative settings.
Strategic thinker with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate clearly.

Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce CRM tools.
