**Responsibilities**
This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension Saint Agnes to provide oversight of our Department of Medicine! The ideal candidate will possess previous chair experience and has shown the ability to develop and communicate a strategic vision; experience with developing organizational culture; history of effective recruitment of physicians and APPs; experience supporting graduate medical education; demonstrated effectiveness in leading teams to excellent quality outcomes; and character and demeanor reflective of the Mission, Vision, and Values of Ascension Saint Agnes.
**Responsibilities:**
+ The position will have an approximately 25% administrative component; the scope of the role will be managed so as to fit within that.
+ Medical staff responsibilities include serving on the Medical Executive Committee; reviewing the credentials of new applicants; supporting section chiefs in quality improvement activities; and ensuring an inclusive, collegial, and professional environment.
+ Administrative responsibilities include articulating the goals and vision for the department to internal and external constituencies; assisting in recruitment of physicians and APPs; providing support and guidance to section chiefs; and ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the department, across disciplines, and with administration
+ Assumes bottom-line responsibility for department capital and operating budgets. Meets or exceeds budgeted targets.
+ Supervises department and departmental subsections. Oversees deployment of staff, employee development, performance and satisfaction.
+ Identifies new technology and treatments. Promotes progressive and best practices. Ensures that quality / performance improvement activities are working well. Oversees risk management activities including adjudication of patient complaints.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
**Required Credential(s):**
• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Maryland Board of Physicians obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
**Education:**
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.
