Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgical Oncology Operating Room (OR) - Outpatient Clinic and Surgical Assist
Ideal Candidate Statement:
The ideal candidate will have prior Operating Room experience as a Physician Assistant.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Patient Care:
Collaborate with physician and clinical team to manage patients in one or multiple areas of the department (GI, Melanoma, Sarcoma, Endocrine, Port Clinic, Breast Cancer). The employee will demonstrate population-based competencies across the continuum of care. The employee performs history and physical assessment, collaborates with the physician to prescribe tests and interpret results, and provides appropriate treatment.
The employee will optimize practice autonomy within their professional scope while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team in their assigned areas.
Outpatient Clinic - The employee assigned to outpatient clinic will manage new patients, follow-up patients, post-op patients, survivorship, and surveillance patients in collaboration with the physician and clinic team.
Operating Room - The employee with operating room privileges and responsibilities will assist in surgery as allowed by certification and scope. The employee will perform pre-operative assessments, evaluate immediate post-operative status, interpret tests, and prescribe appropriate treatment.
Inpatient Care - The employee assigned to inpatient care will manage patients during hospitalization and post-surgery in collaboration with the clinical team. The employee will participate in evaluation and management of patients referred for surgical consults.
Medical Knowledge:
The employee demonstrates medical knowledge of care for Surgical Oncology patients. The employee will develop and demonstrate proficiency in the skills necessary for care of patients in their practice area.
The employee will engage in ongoing learning opportunities and share knowledge and expertise with other staff and trainees. The employee will engage in and promote the institution's discovery/research efforts to improve patient outcomes.
Professionalism:
The employee demonstrates commitment to collaborative professional relationships with physicians and all members of the health care team. The employee abides by professional regulatory and institutional guidelines for practice, documentation, professional charges, and behaviors. Demonstrate commitment to professional development.
Practice-Based Learning:
The employee participates in ongoing learning and professional development. The employee demonstrates application of new knowledge and skills to enhance practice and patient outcomes in their area. Participate in ongoing development of personal and team leadership competencies.

EDUCATION
Required: Master's Degree Accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013.

Required: PAC - Physician Assistant Certifica Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
