Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join the surgical oncology team led by Dr. Sandeep Anantha, a renowned surgical oncologist specializing in robotic and minimally invasive procedures for gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic cancers. The PA will play a critical role in supporting surgical care, enhancing patient outcomes, and contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
Assist Dr. Anantha in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of patients undergoing robotic and minimally invasive surgeries.
Conduct comprehensive patient histories, physical exams, and assessments.
Coordinate pre-surgical workups, including labs, imaging, and specialty referrals.
Round on hospitalized patients and communicate updates to the care team and families.
Manage post-surgical follow-ups, wound care, drain management, and suture/staple removals.
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
Surgical Assistance:
Serve as first or second assist in complex cancer surgeries involving the liver, pancreas, bile ducts, and GI tract.
Assist with robotic system setup and instrumentation during procedures.
Maintain sterile technique and ensure surgical efficiency and safety.
Multidisciplinary Coordination:
Collaborate with radiology, pathology, medical oncology, and other specialties to ensure coordinated cancer care.
Attend tumor boards and multidisciplinary planning meetings.
Facilitate communication between the patient and entire cancer care team.
Administrative & Research Support:
Help manage documentation, surgical scheduling, and prior authorizations.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research if applicable.
Maintain accurate records in EMR and contribute to data collection for outcomes analysis.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current PA-C certification and state licensure (or eligible).
BLS and ACLS certification required.
DEA
Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in surgical or oncology settings preferred; new grads with relevant rotations will be considered.
Experience or interest in robotic-assisted surgery and/or hepatobiliary/pancreatic procedures highly valued.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered mindset.
Ability to work independently and as part of a high-functioning multidisciplinary team.
Salary Range
USD $69.54 - USD $93.00 /Hr.
