Physical Therapists assess muscle strength, joint flexibility, and a patient's ability to walk or move. Treatment may include therapeutic exercises to improve strength, range of motion, endurance, and coordination; the use of heat, cold, electrical stimulation, or aquatic therapy to relieve pain; and education on proper body mechanics and home exercises to prevent injury or restore function.
Because this role involves hands-on patient care, Physical Therapists develop strong connections with patients and often build deeper therapeutic relationships than many other health science professionals.
