Implement all therapeutic and behavioral support programs for students in accordance with the student's ability Teach health and fitness to diverse students Assist with extracurricular activities as designated Follows school's policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Handbook Essential Functions: Develops and implements IEP goals related to Physical Education and Health Classes Writes weekly PE and health lesson plans, documents student progress, and writes IEP updates and progress reports that are aligned to state standards Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the students based on their IEP Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program Instructs and supervises classroom Paraeducator(s), 1:1's and Intervener(s) on how to support students cultivating physical fitness, hygienic habits and good social and emotional adjustments Analyzes, demonstrates and explains basic skills, knowledge's and strategies of games rhythms and fundamentals of body movement Provides age appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of the students Participates cooperatively with Teachers, Therapists and other members of the team to address student's needs and develop plans according to the IEP goals Integrates individualized student communication and therapeutic goals into daily lessons Demonstrates good communication skills written and verbal Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs Participates in faculty committees and student sponsored activities Communicates with Coordinators, Teachers, Therapists, etc on students' progress Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor Bachelor's Degree, Current Pennsylvania Certification in Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education 1 - 3 years’ experience working with special needs children and/or young adults visually impaired with multiple disabilities is highly desired Physical Requirements: Able to lift/transfer a minimum of 50 pounds, be agile, physically pursue clients on foot, physically restrain, bend, squat, stretch, reach, push up and stand for several hours at a time.
