We are seeking a Pathology Lab Assistant for our center to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high-quality, efficient care. Here is some of what you can expect from being a Pathology Lab Assistant with us: + You will ensure complete and accurate Accessioning of surgical specimens and numeric sequencing and labeling appropriate amounts of cassettes. + You will Has primary responsibility for the efficient organization and effectiveness of the specimen procurement, receipt, and processing area. + You will ensure accurate filing and pulling of Histology blocks and slides and logs cases for send-outs, conferences, etc. + You will accurately be labeling slides and matching reports for Pathologist. + You will maintain archival filing, labeling, and moving blocks, slides, and tissue. + You will maintain a working knowledge of routine maintenance on the H&E Strainer and the Tissue Processors and taking temperatures on all equipment necessary. + You will be putting supplies away when they arrive and writing received dates on all incoming supplies. + You will keep the work area clean and answer phones as required. + You will assist Histologist and Pathologists as needed. + You can learn Histology skills including Embedding, Microtomy, Cytology, and Special Stains. Qualifications you will need for this role: + High School diploma or equivalent + One year of experience in a medical laboratory preferred. + Knowledge in handling chemical and biohazardous material. + Basic Knowledge of Biology and Medical Terminology. + Knowledge of handling chemicals and Biohazardous Materials. + Skill in communication and collaborating both orally and in writing. + Skill in working effectively with all levels of the organization. + Ability to effectively solve problem issues. + Ability to work independently or in small or large groups. + Ability to maintain the necessary level of confidentiality to protect patient privacy and proprietary information.
