The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations in a medical setting.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws and label specimens accurately.Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Understand and follow physicians' orders completely.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test order requirements.Ensure accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.

Work Environment
The position is located at 14010 Smoketown Rd Ste 101, Woodbridge, VA in a PSC setting, handling over 100 patients per day. The working hours are from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
