Job Description
The primary role of the Phlebotomist is to assist in various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and recommend workflow improvements.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens according to established protocols.Record maintenance data and ensure decontamination practices are followed.Update and manage patient information accurately.Collect and store specimens in compliance with established procedures.Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture or other specimen collection processes to patients.Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles.Understand and adhere to all physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes correctly.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts 100%.Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.Place samples in appropriate collection containers and tubes, labeling them accurately.Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.Essential SkillsPhlebotomy expertise, including blood draw and venipuncture.Experience in specimen collection and laboratory procedures.Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.2-4 years of relevant experience.Work Environment
The position is based in a Patient Service Center location, where you will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Ocala, Florida.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.50/hr.
