Phlebotomist (Medical Lab), Outpatient

Phlebotomists are responsible for providing exceptional customer service, collecting quality specimens for laboratory analysis, and performing a variety of patient care and administrative support functions per established procedures and policies.
+ Verifies patient identification in accordance with Medical Center Policy.
+ Performs blood collection using various techniques to ensure minimal discomfort to patients of all ages.
+ Collects non-blood specimens such as urines, stools, and sputum for testing.
+ Administers oral solutions according to laboratory testing procedures.
+ Performs limited Point-of-Care Laboratory Testing.
+ Documents information related to specimens collected correctly per established policy.
+ Performs data entry of patient registration, patient demographics, billing information, and test orders into the computer systems.
+ Processes specimens by centrifuging, aliquoting, storing specimens according to the required temperature to maintain the specimen’s integrity, and preparing specimens for transport.
+ Provides superior customer service using AIDET patient communication while maintaining workflow.
+ Maintains appropriate phlebotomy logs, maintenance logs, and temperature logs.
+ Maintains knowledge of quality, safety, and compliance programs.
+ Supports the teaching and training of others in Phlebotomy functions.
+ Performs area-specific support and clinical activities.
+ In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $15.07 - $23.36 Hourly
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent required. Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.
Experience: 1-year relevant experience preferred
Licensure: Certification with a nationally recognized phlebotomy organization (NHA, ASCP, NCCT or equivalent) preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping and climbing (ladder, steps); Repetitive motion: extension and flexion at wrist. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull < 20lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
