We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist III to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, and ensuring that all processes are conducted with precision and care. You will play a crucial role in patient interaction by clearly explaining procedures and demonstrating techniques using various needles.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
+ Decontaminate and update patient information as needed.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Clearly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections to patients.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Fully understand and execute all physicians' orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure correctness.
+ Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
+ Follow procedures specific to protocol to maintain the integrity of specimens.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings.
+ Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills
+ Proficient in phlebotomy techniques and blood draw procedures.
+ At least 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, if required.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Ability to troubleshoot and make workflow recommendations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ 5-7 years of experience in a relevant field.
Work Environment
This position is based in a Patient Service Center (PSC), where you will collaborate with one or more phlebotomists to assist outpatients. You will handle all aspects of the process, from entering doctor's orders into the computer system to verifying insurance, taking copays or payments, drawing blood, and preparing samples for courier pick-up. The standard working hours are 7 AM to 4 PM.

This is a Contract position based out of Tempe, Arizona.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $24.59/hr.
