Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist III to join our team in Prescott Valley. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, and decontamination. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections to patients in a clear and courteous manner.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws and label specimens accurately.Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Record maintenance data and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Understand and follow all physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity during transport.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results.Essential SkillsPhlebotomy certification valid in the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Work Environment
This role is located within a Patient Service Center (PSC) where you will work alongside one or more phlebotomists to draw blood from outpatients. Responsibilities include entering doctor orders into the computer system, verifying insurance, taking copays or payments, drawing blood, and preparing specimens for courier pickup. Work hours are from M-F 7 AM to 4 PM.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.59/hr.
