Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist III to join our team in Chino Valley. This role involves performing various tasks related to specimen collection and processing, including blood draws, labeling, centrifuging, and updating patient information. You will ensure the integrity of specimens and provide courteous explanations of the venipuncture process to patients.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples.Record maintenance data and decontaminate work areas.Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Fully understand and execute physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store samples at the required temperature.Ensure specimens are in appropriate containers/tubes and accurately labeled.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsProficiency in phlebotomy and blood drawing.Ability to perform venipunctures efficiently.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.1-3 years of experience in a related field.Work Environment
This position is located in a Patient Service Center (PSC), collaborating with one or more phlebotomists to draw blood from outpatients. Responsibilities include entering doctor orders into the computer system, verifying insurance, taking copays or payments, drawing blood, and processing specimens for courier pick-up. The work hours are from M-F 7 AM to 4 PM.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.59/hr.
