Now Hiring: Phlebotomist II Job Description The Phlebotomist II plays a crucial role in assisting with various duties related to specimen collection and processing, while providing high-quality care to patients and supporting the healthcare team. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens. + Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment. + Update patient information accurately. + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly to patients. + Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. + Understand and follow physicians' orders precisely. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department training. + Handle telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy certification + Specimen processing + Experience in blood draws and specimen collection + Proficiency in data entry + Understanding of laboratory protocols Additional Skills & Qualifications + Minimum of one year of Phlebotomy experience + Experience working in an OBGYN office preferred + High School Diploma or GED required + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Work Environment This role involves floating between OBGYN facilities in West Omaha, specifically at locations on N 162nd Ave and W Center Rd. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with no weekends or holidays. Attire includes solid-colored scrub tops with no restrictions on the bottoms, and lab coats are provided. Employees have the opportunity to pursue an online Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, Nebraska. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
