Job Description
The primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.Collect and store specimens following established procedures.Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.Demonstrate technique using straight and/or butterfly needles.Understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Ensure accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge and proficiency with order of draw (lab draw/vacutainer knowledge).Experience in a hospital lab or diagnostic drawing setting is preferred.Work Environment
The position is based at a patient service center located in Yulee. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring adherence to safety regulations and protocols. The role involves interacting with patients and handling laboratory equipment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
