Job Title: Phlebotomist I (Immediate Hiring) Job Description The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment. + Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. + Understand and execute physicians' orders, matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Ensure the accuracy of test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. + Package specimens for transport, store samples according to required temperature, and label accurately. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + At least 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced lab, outpatient, or hospital setting + Phlebotomy and venipuncture experience + Blood draw expertise across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric + Excellent customer service skills + High School Diploma or GED Work Environment The position is based in Greenville, South Carolina, operating Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to assist until 5:30 PM. The role involves working in a laboratory setting, with opportunities for conversion to a permanent position, possibly at a different location. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
