Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

The Phlebotomist I is responsible for performing daily phlebotomy activities within the In-office Phlebotomy (IOP) setting accurately and promptly. This position requires interaction with clients, patients, and other personnel in a professional and courteous manner. The role involves both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.

ResponsibilitiesGreet patients warmly and maintain a courteous and respectful demeanor.Accurately and promptly collect specimens following established protocols.Clearly explain venipuncture and other collection procedures to patients.Create a calm and reassuring environment to help reduce patient anxiety during specimen collection.Safely dispose of biohazard materials in compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards.Input patient, specimen, insurance, and billing data into the appropriate system.Match requisition forms with specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.Prepare specimens for transport and ensure proper storage conditions are maintained.Demonstrate proficiency in specimen collection techniques and processing requirements.Maintain accurate records and documentation.Perform general clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, and mail preparation.Exhibit professional and courteous behavior toward patients, colleagues, and clients.Communicate effectively to support a collaborative and respectful work environment.Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of the facility; report maintenance needs as necessary.Assist with inventory checks and notify supervisors of shortages or issues.Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols.Adhere to compliance guidelines and organizational policies, including those related to privacy and security.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience, currently or recently engaged in drawing blood.Phlebotomy skills including blood draw, venipuncture, and specimen collection.Processing blood samples using centrifuge and pipetting techniques.Familiarity with laboratory and specimen processing techniques.Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not requiredHigh School Diploma or GED is required.Work Environment

The position will likely involve about 3 days per week, totaling 24 hours per week in Jasper. There is an opportunity for full hours by floating to an location in Canton, GA, approximately 25 minutes away. The work environment is designed to deliver high-quality, high-service diagnostics with a focus on better patient outcomes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.25 - $22.00/hr.
