Job Title: Phlebotomist IJob Description The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The position involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, while ensuring proper communication and technique in specimen collection. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Properly explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Package and store specimens according to required temperature protocols. + Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy certification + At least 1 year of experience in phlebotomy + High School Diploma or GED + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Additional Skills & Qualifications + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed + Experience performing venipunctures in fast-paced lab or hospital setting Work Environment The work environment is structured around a first shift schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, within a 40-hour work week. The role involves specimen collection in a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere, offering the potential for contract-to-permanent opportunities with a large organization known for its excellent benefits.
