Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist I for the Salisbury, NC area. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care and exhibit proficiency in specimen collection and processing.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.Record maintenance data and conduct decontamination procedures.Update patient information accurately.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.Understand and execute physicians' orders fully.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts 100%.Package specimens properly for transport.Store specimen samples at the required temperature and in appropriate containers.Follow procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual departmental training sessions.Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsPhlebotomyBlood DrawPatient CareOrder of DrawVenipunctureSpecimen CollectionPhlebotomy CertificationSpecimen ProcessingExperience in Medical, Pediatric, and Geriatric PhlebotomyAdditional Skills & QualificationsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.0-2 years of experience.Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting where the phlebotomist will work with a diverse patient population. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and procedures to ensure the integrity of specimen samples. The position involves direct patient interaction and requires a professional appearance and demeanor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.50/hr.
