Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to obtain blood and non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. The role involves performing screening tests, reporting results, processing specimens for laboratory testing, and preparing them for dispatch to reference laboratories.
Responsibilities
Obtain blood specimens and collect non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs.Perform screening tests and accurately report results.Process specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.Prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.Handle an average of 50 sticks during the day shift, 35 in the evening, and 25-30 in the first four hours of the night shift.Respond to codes, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and rapid response calls.Primarily work with adult patients, with occasional involvement in the pediatric burn unit.Essential Skills
Proficiency in phlebotomy, blood draw, and venipuncture.At least 6 months of experience in phlebotomy or clinical training involving phlebotomy.Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required if experience is present.Experience in clinical rotations or a hospital setting for newly certified phlebotomists.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Phlebotomy certification is advantageous.Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Work Environment
The position is based in a busy hospital lab setting with shifts available during the day, evening, and night. You will work Monday to Friday, with every other weekend scheduled, ensuring a consistent day off during the week. The facility includes the only burn unit in the area, catering mostly to adults with minimal pediatric involvement. The role offers a long-term opportunity within a growing hospital, with structured career development paths for advancement.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
