Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate areas as needed. + Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections such as urine or fecal samples, as required. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Fully understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct by checking against scripts. + Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to the required temperature. + Place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport. + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy + Blood draw + Specimen collection + Customer service + Drawing blood Additional Skills & Qualifications + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed, as required in some states. + Minimum of 2+ years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma Work Environment This role involves working in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting, where adherence to safety protocols and procedures is crucial. The position requires proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communication purposes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
