The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist with various duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The position requires expertise in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and updating patient information.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws and label specimens accurately.Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.Decontaminate and update patient information as necessary.Collect and store specimens following established procedures.Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles.Understand and follow physicians' orders precisely.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test order requirements.Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match the script for accuracy.Package specimens correctly for transport and store samples at required temperatures.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.

Work Environment
The position follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 9:30am to 6:00pm.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
