Job Title: Phlebotomist V Location: Austin, TX Employment Type: Full-Time Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Phlebotomist V to join our team in Austin. This is a high-level role requiring advanced proficiency in specimen collection and handling, with a strong preference for candidates who have pediatric experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced clinical or hospital setting. Key Responsibilities: + Perform venipunctures and other specimen collection procedures with precision and care + Collect, label, and store specimens according to established protocols + Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders + Ensure accurate matching of laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes + Package specimens for transport, maintaining proper temperature and integrity + Update patient information and maintain accurate records + Explain procedures clearly and courteously to patients, including pediatric patients + Demonstrate proper technique using straight and butterfly needles + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings + Answer phone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed + Troubleshoot issues and make workflow improvement recommendations Qualifications: + Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience on all ages + High school diploma or GED required + Strong understanding of physician orders and laboratory protocols + Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment Skills: + Phlebotomy + Blood draw + Specimen handling and processing + Patient communication + Workflow optimization Experience Level: Intermediate to Advanced Pay Scale: Based off years of experience Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $31.00/hr.
