Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and offer workflow recommendations. This position requires a dynamic individual who is skilled in specimen collection and processing, ensuring all procedures are executed accurately and efficiently.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients in a courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Fully understand and execute physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper storage and labeling.Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and protocols to maintain specimen integrity.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.2+ years of experience experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficiency in phlebotomy and blood draw techniques.Ability to troubleshoot and recommend workflow improvements.Work Environment

The position operates in a Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM schedule within a fast-paced clinic setting. The work environment is structured to ensure compliance with established protocols and regulations, fostering a professional and efficient workplace.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
