Pharmacy Inventory Control Technician
Job Responsibilities:

Understands the components of the Patient Medication Profile and uses this information for problem resolution. Understands and utilizes pharmacy software to participate in workflow and assist in resolving medication-related issues. Uses computer system to maintain accuracy of medication documentation or charges, charging for dispensed medications and crediting medications that are returned to the pharmacy. Assists the Pharmacists in the Operation of the Drug Distribution System and participates in staff huddles. Perform state certified technician tasks as outlined by South Carolina Board of Pharmacy under direct supervision of a pharmacist. Works well with others and as a part of a team. Maintains Organization and Cleanliness of Work Environment. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in specialized area(s) including: Specialty Pharmacyo Collaborates with physician offices to obtain specialty prescriptions.
o Initiates prior authorization in Cover My Meds if needed, and monitors until approved.
o Researches to find copay assistance if needed and assists in getting patients enrolled.
o Maintains spreadsheet for reporting budgetary impact and care management. Infusion Services
o Uses sterile technique and follows current USP guidelines and procedures for preparing IV admixtures, including hazardous drugs upon proper training.
o Utilizes pharmacy technology to compound and refill medications for dispensing to patients. Pharmacy Purchasing Assistant
o Assists with inventory management and ordering of all pharmaceuticals and supplies for the pharmacy.
o Assists with yearly fiscal inventory.
o Receives and checks in all shipments for correctness and ensuring proper stock rotation. Controlled Substance Monitoring
o Oversight of all aspects of the hospital's controlled substance distribution system.
o Maintains records to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding distribution of controlled substances.
o Reviews controlled substance ADC discrepancies daily and individual ADC discrepancies monthly and monitors for valid correction. Inventory Management
o Utilizes pharmacy technologies to regulate and optimize inventory management: to help control costs, improve accessibility, manage back orders, prevent inclusion of inappropriate medications (i.e., hazardous, low usage, expired), etc.
o Performs optimization and maintenance activities related to pharmacy inventory systems including but not limited to medication loads/unloads, preventative maintenance, etc.
o Performs unit inspections as assigned. Pharmacy Financial Operations
o Prepares reports including statistics, expenses, and productivity for Pharmacy administration end of the month for assigned pharmacy cost center(s).
o Responsible for payroll & record keeping for assigned cost centers
o Responsible for submitting pharmacy invoices for payment for assigned hospitals
o Responsible for Pharmacy “Charge Review Work queue” Advanced Tech Training or Competency Management
o Assists in process improvement, education, and competency management, serving as a role model and mentor to other technicians across various areas of pharmacy.
Work Schedule: 80 Hours Biweekly. Full Time
Qualifications:
1 year of previous pharmacy experience required. South Carolina Pharmacy Technician Registration State of South Carolina & National Certifications required within 6 months of hire.
