As a part time Pharmacy Technician – Neurology at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, you will support one of the highest-volume inpatient pharmacies, serving diverse service lines including general inpatient care, sterile products, the operating room, pediatrics, and mainly the growing neurology specialty. In this role, you will collaborate closely with pharmacists, pharmacy leadership, fellow technicians, and the broader patient care team, including physicians, nurses, and support staff. You will help ensure safe and timely medication distribution through accurate preparation, delivery, inventory management, and use of systems such as EPIC, Pyxis, carousel, and MAR messaging. Caregivers in this role work days, evenings, or nights and receive training in controlled substances, sterile and non-sterile compounding, oncology support, triage, and phone-based coordination, making this a dynamic opportunity to build advanced inpatient pharmacy skills.
This is a part-time position. A caregiver in this role will work variable (8-hr shifts) between 6:45am and 3:15pm and evening shifts between 2:00pm and 10:30pm. Weekend requirements include every 3rd weekend. This position will be stationed primarily at CC Main Campus Neurology Pharmacy, but will float to various other CC Pharmacies in the area.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding. Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections. Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training. Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks. Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma/GED Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compoundsMust meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:
Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR the National HealthCareer Association (NHA)AND it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee. If certified but current status with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) is Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee it is required to update registration status to a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OBOP within six months of hire.Please note: A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role. Six months of inpatient hospital and IV Sterile Compounding experience.
Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.Personal Protective Equipment:
