As a Pharmacy Technician, you play an essential role in keeping patients safe and comfortable throughout their experience. A caregiver in this position works days/evenings from 3:00PM—11:30PM and 11:00AM—7:30PM, with rotating weekend availability.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Licensed in Florida as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) upon or within 18 months of hire
Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
Basic computer skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
Six months of hospital experience
