Join Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute and become part of one of the world’s most respected healthcare organizations. We are expanding with a new, one-million-square-foot, 15-floor, state-of-the-art facility on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus designed to elevate care for complex neurological conditions — including spine injuries, epileptic seizures, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and stroke.  

As a Pharmacy Technician at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, you will support one of the highest-volume inpatient pharmacies, serving diverse service lines including general inpatient care, sterile products, the operating room, pediatrics, and the growing neurology specialty. In this role, you will collaborate closely with pharmacists, pharmacy leadership, fellow technicians, and the broader patient care team, including physicians, nurses, and support staff. You will help ensure safe and timely medication distribution through accurate preparation, delivery, inventory management, and use of systems such as EPIC, Pyxis, carousel, and MAR messaging. Caregivers in this role work days, evenings, or nights and receive training in controlled substances, sterile and non-sterile compounding, oncology support, triage, and phone-based coordination, making this a dynamic opportunity to build advanced inpatient pharmacy skills.

A caregiver in this role will work 7on/7off night shift between the hours of 8:30pm - 7am and will rotate 3 holidays per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.  Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.  Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.  Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.  Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

High School Diploma/GED   Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program   Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).  In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee   Please note: Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds    

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    

Six months of hospital experience   

Physical Requirements:

Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.

Personal Protective Equipment:

•     Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
