The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient supports pharmacists in delivering safe and efficient pharmacy services by compounding both hazardous and non-hazardous medications, including IV preparation of chemotherapy in an infusion oncology setting. This role is responsible for clean room maintenance, medication and supply receiving, sterile compounding and inventory management in a smaller-scale environment compared to a traditional hospital pharmacy. The position offers a high level of independence and is well suited for caregivers who value autonomy while maintaining accuracy, safety and quality in inpatient pharmacy operations.
This is a part-time role. A caregiver in this position will work various shifts throughout the week.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding. Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections. Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training. Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks. Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma/GED Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compoundsMust meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:
Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP)Please note: A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role. Six months of hospital experience Experience in IV compounding/ working with sterile productsPhysical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.Personal Protective Equipment:
