The Community Pharmacy at Willoughby Hills Family Health Center offers a fast-paced, outpatient/ambulatory setting where caregivers play an important role in supporting patient care and daily pharmacy operations. This PRN position supports an average prescription volume of approximately 360–400 prescriptions per day and works closely with pharmacists, fellow pharmacy technicians, and patients in a highly collaborative, team-based environment. Pharmacy Technicians are cross-trained across all work areas and rotate weekly, contributing to shared responsibilities such as prescription typing and filling, customer service and registration support, phone coverage, inventory management, and stocking. With consistent patient interaction and structured daily task lists at each workstation, this role provides a strong entry opportunity into Cleveland Clinic and an excellent foundation for growth within a supportive, ambulatory pharmacy team.
A caregiver in this role works Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 8:00pm and Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, primarily on 10-hour shifts. While the pharmacy is closed on weekends, caregivers can pick up 3–4 shifts per month at other open locations, providing flexible support across multiple pharmacy teams.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Follow established policies and procedures to support functions essential to the operations of the pharmacy department. Perform packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. Pursue completion of the Cleveland Clinic’s School of Pharmacy Technology program in the first 12 months of employment. Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging and non-sterile compounding). Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations. Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies. Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner. Appropriately use information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks. Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program per the student handbook.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
A high school diploma or GED Can perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds. Basic computer skillsMust meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:
Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).Please note: A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role. It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of PharmacyPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
