The Pharmacy Technician works in a fast-paced inpatient pharmacy located on the second floor of Building C, between the OR and ICU, supporting a 256+ bed hospital. In this role, the caregiver collaborates closely with pharmacists while maintaining a level of autonomy in daily tasks. Responsibilities include medication picking and distribution, receiving and handling controlled substances, triaging requests, answering phones, managing re-dispenses, and supporting general workflow needs such as door coverage. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely and accurate medication support in a busy hospital environment. **This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work 3 shifts per week and 1 weekend per month and 1 major holiday per year.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding. + Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. + Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections. + Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training. + Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks. + Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High School Diploma or GED + Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds + Basic computer skills **Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:** + Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Florida Board of Pharmacy (FBOP). **Please note:** A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with FBOP does not qualify for this role.
