Overview
The Finance Manager of Pharmacy Margin & Unit Economics will lead margin analytics across the infusion pharmacy business, with primary ownership of drug-level, payer-level, channel-level, branch-level, and unit economics profitability. This role will translate complex reimbursement, procurement, utilization, and payer mix dynamics into clear, executive-ready insights that support decision-making across pricing, contracting, procurement, Market Access, and operations.
This role will also serve as the business owner of pharmacy margin data logic, reporting methodology, and analytical framework. Given the complexity of infusion pharmacy reimbursement and claim-level profitability, this position must be technically fluent enough to partner with data analysts, review SQL-based outputs, validate backend reporting logic, and ensure margin analytics are accurate, scalable, and tied to financial results.
This is a high-visibility role partnering closely with FP&A leadership, Market Access, Margin Optimization, Pharmacy Procurement, IT/Data teams, and executive leadership. The Finance Manager will define the business requirements, own the financial interpretation, and direct the work of the Sr. Finance Data Analyst supporting the backend data models, SQL logic, automation, and recurring reporting infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Owns end-to-end margin analytics across drug, payer, channel, therapy, branch, claim, and patient-level performance
Leads monthly margin narrative for executive reporting, including MORs, CFO presentations, and margin deep-dives
Builds, reviews, and maintains rate, mix, volume, reimbursement, and unit cost bridges explaining gross profit performance
Analyzes impacts from ASP, AWP, WAC, MAC, acquisition cost, reimbursement rate, payer mix, drug utilization, and channel shifts
Defines business requirements for SQL-based margin analytics, backend data models, and automated reporting processes
Partners with the Sr. Finance Data Analyst to build scalable reporting logic for drug, payer, channel, branch, claim, and patient-level profitability
Reviews and validates SQL-based outputs to ensure reporting ties to financial results, source systems, and business expectations
Owns margin reporting methodology, including data definitions, mapping logic, bridge calculations, cost-to-claim matching, and validation controls
Identifies opportunities to automate manual margin reporting processes and reduce dependency on Excel-based analysis
Translates complex business questions into structured analytical requirements for backend data development
Partners with Market Access on pricing strategy, reimbursement changes, payer behavior, and industry trends
Collaborates with Margin Optimization to assess claim-level profitability, reimbursement accuracy, margin leakage, and cost-to-claim mapping
Partners with Pharmacy Procurement to track drug costs, manufacturer rebates, wholesaler discount rates, and purchasing trends
Conducts ongoing monitoring of drug cost fluctuations and payer reimbursement changes to identify margin volatility
Ensures margin data models appropriately capture reimbursement, acquisition cost, rebates, payer mix, drug utilization, and unit economics
Establishes validation controls, documentation standards, and quality checks across recurring margin reporting
Translates complex analytics into clear executive insights, risks, opportunities, and recommendations
Leads and support the budget and forecast build for pharmacy margin, with ownership from Revenue through Gross Profit, including reimbursement assumptions, payer/channel mix, drug cost trends, utilization, rebates, and other COGS-related margin drivers
Manages, develops, and directs the work of the Sr. Finance Data Analyst supporting pharmacy margin analytics

Qualifications
6-10+ years of FP&A, finance, analytics, healthcare reimbursement, pharmacy analytics, or related experience
Pharmacy, infusion pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, healthcare reimbursement, payer, or provider finance experience required
Strong understanding of pharmacy reimbursement concepts, including ASP, AWP, WAC, MAC, acquisition cost, payer reimbursement, rebates, and gross profit
Strong technical fluency with SQL-based reporting, data models, Power BI, Alteryx, Power Query, or similar analytics tools required
Hands-on SQL, data transformation, or backend analytics experience strongly preferred
Ability to direct, validate, and interpret complex backend data analytics supporting margin reporting
Experience working with claim-level, drug-level, payer-level, branch-level, or transaction-level healthcare data required
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills required
Experience with Power BI, SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, Alteryx, or similar database/reporting environments preferred
Strong ability to translate complex data into executive-ready financial insights and recommendations
Strong understanding of financial statements, gross profit drivers, variance analysis, and unit economics
Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across Finance, Market Access, Procurement, Margin Optimization, IT/Data teams, and operations
Strong attention to detail, validation discipline, and ability to identify data quality issues or logic gaps
Demonstrated ability to manage and develop analytical talent
Strong understanding of pharmacy reimbursement, payer dynamics, and infusion pharmacy margin drivers across PBM and Medical benefit channels
Advanced financial modeling, variance analysis, and rate/mix/volume analytics skills
Knowledge of pharmaceutical pricing methodologies including ASP, AWP, WAC, and MAC
Advanced Excel skills with experience using Power BI, SQL, or similar analytics/reporting tools
Ability to analyze large, complex datasets and translate findings into actionable business insights
Strong executive communication and presentation skills with ability to simplify complex financial concepts
Ability to build scalable reporting, validation controls, and analytical processes with high attention to detail
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with ability to partner effectively across Finance, Operations, RCM, and Market Access
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment
Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities with focus on continuous improvement
Strong knowledge of financial and operational data analysis, with the ability to oversee the development and support of reporting, automated data pipelines, and enterprise analytics solutions
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis, validate financial data integrity, and translate complex data into actionable business insights for leadership decision-making
Strong understanding of data governance, reconciliation, and data quality management practices to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability across financial and operational reporting
Strong SQL knowledge with experience working in SQL Server environments, including relational database design, complex query development, performance tuning, stored procedures, views, functions, and SQL Server Agent jobs. Familiarity with additional database platforms and data warehousing concepts is preferred
Strong experience developing and maintaining automated data pipelines and ETL processes using SQL Server technologies, with the ability to optimize data workflows, troubleshoot failures, and ensure data integrity across enterprise systems
Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI and SSRS, including oversight of dashboard development, KPI validation, and financial reporting processes
Percentage of Travel: 0-25%
