Pharmacy Manager - Inpatient Operations

The Pharmacy Manager - Inpatient Operations provides operational leadership within a large, high-volume academic medical center, overseeing controlled substance workflows and supporting central pharmacy and procedural areas, including the OR. This role directly manages pharmacy technicians while collaborating closely with inpatient pharmacy teams, procedural staff, and compliance stakeholders to ensure efficient, safe medication practices. Key responsibilities include leading regulatory compliance and auditing processes, monitoring and investigating controlled substance discrepancies and diversion concerns, and using data to identify trends and drive process improvements. Serving as a key liaison across departments, this role plays a critical part in strengthening operational integrity, mitigating risk, and aligning best practices across the enterprise. **A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Leadership will be on call, every 12th week. Onsite weekend requirements occur every 12th week. No holidays or no floating expectations.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Identify and meet patient needs utilizing continuous process improvement techniques. + Identify and propose practical solutions to technical, professional, personnel or procedural problems affecting daily workflow. + Ensure the department is adequately staffed with properly trained personnel. + Establish work assignments and schedules. + Participate in the development of operational and clinical program activities. + Promote and develop the clinical activities of pharmacy caregivers through counseling, training and teaching. + Train and instruct caregivers as to their duties. + Coordinate orientation and training of new caregivers in job functions and responsibilities. + Monitor financials and other pertinent statistics. + Assist with evaluations of financial performance. + Maintain records of narcotics, poisons, and habit-forming drugs received in accordance with state and federal laws. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within 90 days of hire + Completion of a health-system Pharmacy Administration or Leadership (HSPAL) PGY2 Residency OR four years of relevant pharmacy experience, including one year of leadership experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Pharmacy Degree with current state licensure + MS, MBS, PharmD and/or residency + Experience in:* Controlled substance management* Diversion monitoring/investigations* Inpatient or procedural pharmacy operations* Regulatory or audit-heavy environments **Physical Requirements:** + Physical demands include periods of standing and walking. + Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions and communication via telephone. + May be required to lift and transport up to ten pounds. + Requires normal or corrected vision. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. **Pay Range** Minimum Annual Salary: $118,960.00 Maximum Annual Salary: $190,360.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
