Position Purpose
The Pharmacy Leader (PL) is a licensed registered pharmacist accountable for leading, managing and advancing people, processes and / or programs that support direct or indirect patient care. The PL promotes and advocates for patients, pharmacists / colleagues and the practice of pharmacy as defined by clinical area(s) of expertise and assignment.

What the Pharmacy Clinical Services Manager will do:
Provides leadership & retains accountability for delegation, choices, decisions & outcomes. Directs alignment and standardization for Pharmacy Clinical Services across the continuum of care to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care in accordance with professional standards, regulatory and licensing agency policies, and federal and state laws related to the practice of Pharmacy.
Partners with executive leaders, medical staff, and healthcare team to develop strategy, goals, objectives, and operational standards to ensure services and priority alignment. Responsible for the successful achievement of strategic objectives and goals and optimizing resources to achieve the desired outcomes.
Creates and promotes a culture based on the principles of continuous quality improvement.
Collaborates with health care colleagues to establish quality and compliance standards.
Ensures appropriate operational and capital budgets are prepared for Clinical Pharmacy services.
Responsible for medication safety measures and efficient integration of Clinical Pharmacy services into operational processes.
Responsible for identifying and implementing Clinical Pharmacy programs, and drug use improvement initiatives.
Responsible for training, education, coaching, and assessment of pharmacist competencies. Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, licenses, and certifications, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
Creates a work climate that empowers colleagues and values colleagues’ contributions. Supports pharmacy practice residency accreditation, and pharmacy student internship educational programs and maintains required documentation.
Supports the drug procurement process including overseeing therapeutic alternatives to drug shortages, recalls, and formulary changes. Assumes responsibility for investigational drugs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is required. Advanced or Master’s degree preferred (e.g., PharmD, MBA)
Experience: Minimum of ten (5) years’ experience as a pharmacist. Minimum three (3) years of pharmacy management experience.
Current pharmacist state licensure where employed.
Proven leadership skills in relationship to motivating and empowering staff. Preferred experience working in an organization of comparable size and complexity, preferably in healthcare.
