Pharmacy Business Development Associate

The Pharmacy Business Development Associate collaborates with department leaders to manage drug procurement, optimize inventory, and ensure program compliance for the hospital’s inpatient pharmacy. This position acts as an essential link between pharmacy operations, finance, and compliance teams to guarantee accurate purchasing, control costs, and adhere to regulatory standards governing Pharmacy Drug Purchases.

GENERAL DUTIES

Primary Responsibilities:

Provides training and oversight for the Pharmacy Department to ensure efficient operations are conducted in accordance with department policies andprocedures.Works with pharmacy leadership to ensure that all processes are aligned and adhere to appropriate guidelines.Assist the buyer with scanning 3D barcodes to ensure compliance and to prevent diversion.  Maintain optimal inventory levels by monitoring usage trends and minimizing waste and stockouts.Assist with the loan/borrow process to recover medications loaned to other facilities.Enter New NDCs in EPIC and work with the Willow Team on pricing and to clean up the med list.Evaluate purchases, vendor pricing, and contracts to ensure cost-effective buying practices.Track backorders, shortages, and work with wholesalers to ensure continuous drug availability.Serve as the subject matter expert (SME), assisting Pharmacy Leadership with HRSA guidelines and auditing assistance.Monitor and maintain wholesaler software to keep an accurate record of purchases in the accumulator.  Perform routine audits and data integrity checks to identify discrepancies or potential compliance risks.Partner with finance to reconcile purchases, accumulations, and savings metrics related to Pharmacy purchases.Monitor and manage patient-supplied medications, keeping a log to ensure it does not accumulate.Demonstrates and applies current knowledge of specialty pharmacy accounts, products, services, and criteria that influence accurate payment investigations and communication with accounts payable.   Works closely with the Pharmacy Business Manager and Pharmacy Buyer as this cross-functional collaboration allows for balancing clinical priorities, fiscal stewardship, and regulatory compliance while aiming to improve patient care delivery.

Pharmacy Services Management:

Demonstrates and applies current knowledge and criteria affecting financial investigations. Collaborates across the pharmacy to ensure seamless processes. Promotes and supports hospital policies, procedures, mission, vision, and core values by training and guiding others in their implementation. Understands and complies with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements relevant to pharmacy, adhering to state and federal laws. Works with the pharmacy team to ensure all processes are aligned with and follow appropriate guidelines.

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years of hospital pharmacy experience; required.Pharmacy Purchasing experience; required340B Analyst experience; preferred


EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent requiredPreferred: Associate's degree.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Currently licensed as a Louisiana Certified Pharmacy Technician; required
