Pharmacy Billing Specialist - Full Time Day Shifts - Bingham Farms

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Schedule: Full Time Day Shifts

The Pharmacy Billing Specialist is responsible for the Henry Ford Pharmacy patients account payments and deposits across all pharmacy locations. Identifies and determines, in accordance with established policies and procedures, the accuracy and completeness of patient insurances, payments and demographics. Responsible for answering inbound phone calls, assisting with billing and collection of all pharmacy revenue, as well as providing pharmacy support as needed. Additionally works with collections agencies on delinquent accounts. 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Accept inbound customer calls and provide accurate, satisfactory answers to their queries and concernsDe-escalate situations involving dissatisfied customers offering assistance and supportProvide support to internal and external customers regarding pharmacy copays, claims rejections, rebills, etc. Verifies patient insurance coverage and makes necessary changes in pharmacy system. Accept and process all patient account payments. Generate and prepare all monthly patient account statements.Ensure that all financial adjustments are posted accurately.

Reconcile and deposit all pharmacy revenue collected. 

 

Evaluate and validate patient credit card information within pharmacy and billing software systems, ensuring that all information is current and accurateSort and retrieve all outgoing and incoming mail Evaluate and investigate appropriation to be taken to resolve delinquent account balances, which may include suspension of account usage and reporting account balances to collections agency 

Identify and resolve credit balances and understand the impact on patient responsibility and third party refunding

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Associate's degree or higher preferred.  Minimum one (1) year call center experience required.Pharmacy experience preferred. Ability to analyze and improve billing procedures required. Strong understanding and knowledge of medical/clinical and pharmacy terminology. Working knowledge of personal computers, and business software such as Microsoft Office. Organizational and time management skills, as evidenced by the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and job duties/responsibilities. Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience with interacting with customers.
