**Pay Range:** $61.00 per hour

**Summary**
The Per Diem Midnight Pharmacist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of central drug distribution operations during overnight hours. This includes sterile compounding (IV admixtures and chemotherapy), repackaging of oral liquids, and oral unit dose dispensing via carousel systems. The pharmacist will perform comprehensive Epic order verification to ensure medication therapy is accurate, safe, and clinically appropriate. Key responsibilities also include coordinating timely medication delivery to nursing units, providing oversight and guidance to pharmacy technicians, and always maintaining clear and professional communication. Strong multitasking skills and adherence to appropriate phone etiquette are essential for success in this role. The pharmacist will uphold the mission, vision, and values of Rush, consistently operating in alignment with institutional policies, procedures, and ICARE values. Pharmacist midnight shifts are one of the following: 2030-0630, 2100-0700, or 2130 – 0730.
**Responsibilities**
1. Oversee central pharmacy operations, including medication order verification, sterile product verification, automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) management, oral drug compounding/repackaging, and the timely dispensing and delivery of medications.
2. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards, including USP <795>, <797>, and <800>.
3. Demonstrate a strong understanding of central pharmacy workflows related to Pyxis systems and patient-specific medication filling processes, including verification of orders from central pharmacy dispensing carousels, storeroom carousels, and cleanroom production areas.
4. Review and verify Epic medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness, accurate dosing, optimal dosage form, potential drug interactions, allergies, route and rate of administration, and therapeutic duplications.
5. Ensure order accuracy by communicating directly and promptly with prescribers or designated practitioners in accordance with RUMC and departmental policies and procedures.
6. Provide evidence-based pharmacotherapy recommendations and drug information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient care.
7. Ensure documentation of clinical interventions in a timely and thorough manner using Epic Ivents.
8. Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and contribute to clinical or operational departmental safety.

**Required Job Qualifications:**
• One year of hospital pharmacy experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be flexible with work schedule. • Dependable attendance and job performance.
• Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Illinois.
