Yes County Albany Street Address NYS Office of Mental Health 44 Holland Avenue City Albany State NY Zip Code 12229 Duties Description The Office of Mental Health is recruiting to fill a Pharmacist, G-25, position in the Office of the Chief Medical Informatics Officer. Under the direction of the Medical Informatics Pharmacy Director of Pharmacy Systems and Operations, the Pharmacist will work to coordinate standardization as we move to a new EHR, including but not limited to a global formulary, reporting, pharmacy workflows and pharmacy inventory tracking. Familiarity of the esVista system is desired. The agency operates 24 Psychiatric Hospitals and ensuring IT clinical systems meet all required health and safety needs is essential to OMH. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: • Familiarity with Formulary development and management.• Gather requirements from facility clinical staff and other stakeholders to understand current workflow, challenges and desired future states with the new EHR.• Work with facility pharmacists to identify inventory locations and develop workflow for tracking of inventory in new EHR.• Coordinate extensively with IT to configure and customize medication related modules within the EHR system to align with pharmacy best practices, patient safety goals and regulatory standards.• Responsible for effective process design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Clinical Decision Support as it related to the medication management processes. These include, but are not limited to, dictionary building, software testing, personnel training, and placement and proper functioning of hardware and network resources as it relates to medications. • Order set and protocol development: Designing, developing, and implementing standardized order sets and protocols to ensure accurate medication ordering and administration within the EHR.• Maintaining and optimizing the drug database within the EHR, including formulary management, drug information, and medication cataloging.• Developing and delivering training programs for pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals on the effective use of the new EHR system.• Conducting comprehensive testing of the EHR system's pharmacy functionalities, including medication ordering, dispensing, administration, and reporting to ensure accuracy and functionality.• Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless data exchange between the EHR and other systems, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs), Medical Devices, and billing systems.• Identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues related to medication ordering, dispensing, or administration within the EHR system.• Travels to hospitals and satellite clinics as needed to perform training.• Assist with training and implementation of a contingency plan for periods of extended downtime and helps update the plan to accommodate changing policies and software.• Monitoring and evaluation: Tracking key performance indicators related to medication management and EHR utilization, analyzing data, and generating reports to identify areas for improvement.• Enhancement and optimization: Working with clinical and IT teams to identify and implement enhancements and optimizations to the EHR system's pharmacy functionalities to further improve efficiency, safety, and quality of care.• Compliance and security: Ensuring the EHR system's compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA) and implementing data security protocols to protect patient health information.• Continuous improvement: Staying abreast of industry trends and best practices in pharmacy informatics and applying this knowledge to enhance medication management processes and patient outcomes.
