New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports. 

The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Pharmacist.

About the role

As we continue to optimize production in 2026, we are seeking an experienced Pharmacist to join our Mine Medical Centre team in Porgera.    This is a highly visible ‘hands on’ role, provide comprehensive, high level pharmacy services that optimise medication safety, efficacy, and cost effectiveness. You will deliver independent professional judgment, offer therapeutic advice to both patients and clinicians, and ensure all medication practices align with standards and organizational policies.

You will further build, optimize and execute processes, and clinical best-practise to across the operation whilst equally focused on working with the MMC team identifying cultural, procedural and technological optimization in providing frontline Pharmacy services at out active mine site.

Deliver expert clinical pharmacy services, ensuring safe and effective medication management. Provide evidence‑based therapeutic advice to patients, carers, and clinicians. Apply independent professional judgment in medication review, stock management, and optimization  Contribute to medication governance, policy development, and service improvement initiatives. Participate in research, quality improvement, and evidence‑based practice activities. Engage in consumer education to promote safe and informed medication use. Ensure compliance with all standards and organizational policies. Providing supervision and guidance to pharmacy technicians and assistants

NPL seek continuous improvement, automation, simplification and optimization and seek to further improve our working practices, use of vendors and ongoing upskilling of our local and national team.

You will model safety behaviors, working with the MMC team to assess and manage risk.  NPL operates in a complex environment that requires the successful applicant to be a self-starter, with strong ability in delivery to support the mines successful operation whilst coordinating the efforts of your team members to complete projects according to plan in a timely and safe manner.

About you

To succeed in this role, it is expected you will have:

Registered Pharmacist with current PNG medical board registration. Minimum 2+ years of community pharmacy experience required, ideally with in hospital pharmacy or sub-acute setting preferred. Detailed orientated with a high attention to detail. Strong clinical knowledge. Excellent communication and teamwork skills Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and continuous learning. 

You will demonstrate a ‘One Team’ approach, providing effective leadership and development for your local team to reinforce NPL’s culture and values, always promoting a safe work environment.  The position requires a high energy individual, hands-on management style and desire to continuously improve you and your team’s knowledge and systems and methods of work.

This role is offered on a FIFO basis from Papua New Guinea with a 21/14 roster on a contract basis with a highly competitive remuneration package.
