Job Title: Pharmacist
Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Pharmacist to ensure the accuracy and thoroughness of medication orders. This role involves resolving medication discrepancies through effective communication with healthcare professionals, compounding medications, and dispensing them accurately. The pharmacist will also prepare IV admixtures, manage sterile compounding, and provide essential drug information.

ResponsibilitiesEvaluate medication orders for accuracy and resolve discrepancies through communication with physicians, clinical pharmacists, or nursing staff.Assess feasibility and compound or verify the compounding of extemporaneous products, recommending alternatives when appropriate.Prepare IV admixtures and compound sterile products, including large volume parenteral, mini-bags, TPN solutions, and cytotoxic drugs.Independently respond to non-evaluative drug information requests.Monitor and take appropriate action to ensure optimum patient drug therapy, drug selection, and minimal adverse drug reactions under supervision.Dispense controlled substances and maintain perpetual inventory, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and departmental policies.Provide technical supervision to support personnel, oversee workflow, and verify technicians’ accuracy in medication preparation and packaging.Enter and verify computer entries and data for drug orders, and instruct patients or families on medication use and adverse effects in a decentralized setting.Maintain current knowledge of trends and developments in pharmacy through reading literature, attending seminars, and completing continuing education.Participate in departmental and hospital education programs, meetings, and community outreach efforts as appropriate.Engage in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.Essential SkillsPHARMD from an accredited college of pharmacy.Licensed Pharmacist in the District of Columbia.1-2 years of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting or 3-4 years in retail.Additional Skills & QualificationsCompletion of PGY-1 pharmacy residency is preferred.Board certification is preferred.Work Environment

The work schedule includes Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with rotating weekends from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Parking is compensated with an additional $0.50 per hour added to the pay rate.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
